'Inana Rhythms - Community. Connection. Change.
What is a drum circle?

A drum circle IS:

  • A group of people sitting in a circle playing "in the moment" music together
  • People playing a wide variety of drums/percussion instruments including hand drums, shakers, bells, and wooden instruments
  • An excellent way to build community, enhance connection, and communicate through rhythm
  • A wonderful way for people to "find their individual voice" while making music as part of a whole group

A drum circle is NOT:

  • A musical performance with an audience and performers. Everyone in the circle is an active member of the experience
  • A drum class where students learn rhythms of a particular style or a specific culture
  • Only focused on the musical product itself.  Drum circles also focus on the overall process of working together to create improvised music and build community.
